Mini baccarat spun off of baccarat, a casino table game that originated in 16th century Italy and remains huge in European casinos. The Object of the Game
In a game of mini baccarat, you are not competing against the dealer or the other players. Quite specifically, you are betting on the cards. The object of the game is to obtain a two-card hand (in some cases, up to a three-card hand) with a total value that is closest to 9.
The big difference between baccarat and mini baccarat is simply this: in a game of baccarat, players alternate being the "banker" (dealer) by passing the "bank" (the dealing shoe that holds the cards) clockwise. In a game of mini baccarat, the dealer is always the banker and the players never get to hold the bank or touch the cards.
